Criminal Procedure Amendments for Jessica

In light of the acquittals in Jessica Lall's case, Sonia Gandhi has suggested certain amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure to ensure the authenticity of witness testimony. The mdia has also called for a comprehensive witness protection programme and the government seems amenable to the idea.
